Primordial Ooze is a crowdsourcing geographic information system (GIS) platform that enables organizations to post tasks (e.g. digitize trails visible in satellite imagery) and provides workers to complete them.  Workers are trained thoroughly to produce accurate results. Ooze automatically divides large jobs into small subtasks and compiles the results for the customer; it also uses several automated quality assurance (QA) algorithms to verify the accuracy of job results. Feature results can be provided in several formats such as KML or ESRI Shape files (SHP).

Trax is a command-line utility for Windows that automatically extracts roads and trails from hundreds of thousands of global positioning system (GPS) tracks. The utility uses a heat-map algorithm to determine roads and trails based on how frequently tracks pass over an area; the more tracks passing over a location, the more likely it is a road or trail. Trax accepts GPX track files and outputs the results in KML format.

Primordial is leveraging Ooze to develop detailed maps covering the 100 most popular city parks in the United States.  Primordial is deriving these maps from 1-meter aerial imagery.  Each map will contain buildings, parking lots, roads, trails, trees, walls, and water.  Ooze will provide 95% confidence that fewer than 2% of map tiles contain errors.  Primordial and its customers will use the maps for routing and visualization.
